About the Role:

Microsoft is seeking a Critical Environment Technician (CET) to join its Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team in Hyderabad. This role is vital to ensuring the uninterrupted operation of Microsoft’s datacenters, which power services like Azure, Office 365, Bing, Xbox, and OneDrive for over 1 billion customers worldwide.

You will be responsible for performing inspections, monitoring facility equipment, conducting maintenance, assisting in troubleshooting, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. CO+I manages Microsoft’s global datacenter infrastructure, with more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries and millions of servers. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct facility rounds, record observations, and take operational measurements.
• Monitor and inspect critical infrastructure equipment such as HVAC, mechanical systems, and control systems.
• Learn and operate facility systems safely and understand associated risks.
• Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track assets and manage work orders.
• Assist in emergency response following established Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
• Perform planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance following Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Document and escalate issues found during inspections and maintenance.
• Escort contractors, vendors, and service providers as required.
• Follow safety, environmental, and security procedures in compliance with Microsoft and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

• High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to meet Microsoft and/or government security screening requirements (including passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years).

Preferred:

• 1+ years of technical services experience in critical infrastructure (e.g., data centers, oil & gas, hospitals, manufacturing, or pharmaceuticals) OR Associate’s degree/technical certification.
• Knowledge of safety protocols, high-availability systems, and operational monitoring.
